Resumen
La depredación es un proceso ecológico clave que influye en la estructura y dinámica de los ecosistemas. En ambientes seminaturales, las alteraciones en la composición del gremio de depredadores pueden propiciar comportamientos tróficos inusuales, como la depredación facultativa realizada por pequeños mamíferos omnívoros. En este trabajo documentamos un evento de depredación de nido de gorrión toquí pardo (Melozone fusca) por parte de una ardilla gris mexicana (Sciurus aureogaster) en un fragmento de vegetación secundaria de pino-encino ubicado en la periferia de Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. Este registro aporta evidencia sobre la flexibilidad en el comportamiento trófico de roedores esciúridos, favorecida tanto por la fragmentación del hábitat como por la pérdida de depredadores especializados en los ambientes montañosos del Eje Neovolcánico.
